Why MTek "Weapon Systems"? You guys make armor. We believe the individual is the greatest weapon, everything else is just a tool to get the job done. In our case we want to prevent injury to keep the person in the fight longer.

Why not have the shield flip up?There are a couple reasons that the shield was not designed to "flip-up" as a conventional riot-style face shield.
1. Strength- The rail mounting system provides unparalleled strength and rigidity, especially when encountering ballistic events and blunt force impact.
2. Interference- There are more than a few types of NOD, NVG's, etc out there. Having the shield "flip up" would likely interfere with one of these pieces of gear.
3. False sense of security- a visor flipped up over your head provides zero protection. Given the timeframe of a ballistic event, you won't have a chance to move it into position.

Why not just use a clear riot-style face shield?Anything that arrives in the desert "clear" isn't "clear" in 2 weeks. The faceshield works with all the current issue goggles so you can swap those out as needed.

Why a rigid faceshield?Putting your face through a humvee dash, or the spade grip on the .50 cal will ruin your day and your grill (fangs, teeth, etc). The rigidity of the faceshield spreads the impact out to a more "tolerable" level.

Will it ruin my peripheal vision? No more than the helmet does. If installed properly, you won't know it's there- unless you take a hit to it, in which case you'll be glad it was.
